Jack Blackman’s Bio
I remember the day I had an email confirming I was able to start my PGA qualifications and turn professional. The thing I was striving to achieve, had become true in that one email. It feels a long time ago sitting in my home, during lockdown getting that email. Three years down the line and so many things have changed in my life. All because of the benefit of me doing what I love. I have been able to compete in events I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to have done before this. The one that stands out the most is competing in regional qualifying for the 149th Open. I was leading the event at 5 under par and managed to qualify for the final qualifying. One day from competing in the biggest competition in golf. All the hard work and dedication had led to that one day, but still, it all went back to that one email I had during lockdown. Without that email, I would not have been able to even compete in the competition. The PGA has given me so much to be thankful for.
I am thankful for being able to teach some amazing clients as well because of this. The clients that make me smile and give me the urge to make everybody’s game better. Seeing someone hit a great shot and knowing that you have made a difference to their game gives a feeling like no other. Competing and teaching give me the same buzz. Knowing how important golf is to many people, and being able to help them on their journey is very rewarding. And I will always enjoy this aspect of my job. Introducing the game of golf to the younger generation is amazing as well, seeing the first time they hit a high straight shot and then them turning to their parents in amazement. These are the future of the game, whether it be in a business or a recreational aspect.
Lexden Wood have been there throughout the way as well for my 10 years of working there. Even before turning professional and working behind reception, the time, effort and support from everyone at the club, I would not have been able to be where I am now and the position I am at the club. I am very grateful to them and the opportunities that they have provided to me. This is including the members section who for a long time I was playing rounds with in the monthly medal. I am grateful for their support too, whether it be caddying for me, or being there cheering me on.
Wherever the game of golf takes me, I am always going to be looking forward to the next adventure.
